Putting in the Miles

It is not that I haven’t been riding, just not as much as a year ago.  With a two-day 100+ mile trip less than a week away I figured it would be a good idea to throw in some distance and hills a few days this week to test the legs.

A fun and fast (by my current standards) 30 mile loop with some Back, country and frontage roads.  Considering the wind, a 15mph average is not that bad.  I think I saw more cyclists than cars.  Fringe benefit was getting out from under the fog bank you can see pressing into the valley in the last picture.  All in all, it was a great way to break up the day.

Daddy Days

Fridays are daddy days around here, and that is a good thing.  We broke away from the routine to head out on a bike adventure, ship out some stuff:

Cruise down to the coast

around the point to check the surf

And scored some quality pony time at the fairgrounds

Pretty close to perfect.

Happy Friday, get outside and play this weekend.

Lunchtime Spin

Summer is hitting full force this week in Ventura.  The sun is out, semi tropical monsoons with sprinkles of rain, it is feeling a lot more like Hawaii than our usual summer fog.  While hard to keep working, it made for a good excuse to head out for quick spin with the wife and our little guy to get some of the wiggles out.

Fresh Air

The fog pulled back today and I was able to manage a ride to the PO and drop off some boxes.  With the magical powers of Mucinex I am actually pulling air all the way back into my lungs and getting back on top of things.  This has been a long, month or more of allergies, cold season and general ick, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Time to get back behind the sewing machine for a couple of days!

Much Needed Family Ride

It has been a very long month of family virus sharing, launching the Rambler, munchikn turning 2 and moving into a new classroom, bike to work month/week and it goes on and on.  Last evening was a time to just take a break, ride the long way to dinner as a family and have some fun outside.

I have been sharing pictures like this for almost two years now, and every time I look at them I realize how blessed I/we are as a family to have this life together, and the freedom to ride places like this every day.  I hope that the pictures help to inspire you to get out there and ride, with your family if you can, and get the most out of your home that you can.

There is still plenty going on and a backlog to dig out from, but taking time to smell the roses every now and then helps keep the machine running.
